Terms of use

These are the rules for using Cooklook. Using the app means you accept them.

The short version

Cook what you like, share what you make, do not be a problem for anyone else. There is no tolerance for abusive content or abusive people, and we act on reports within 24 hours.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 to use Cooklook. One person, one account. Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

You can delete your account at any time from settings, and it takes effect immediately.

What you post

You keep ownership of your recipes, photos, videos, and comments. By posting something publicly you give Cooklook permission to store it, show it to other people using the app, and include it in feeds and search inside the app. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already made by people who saved it and for backups that age out normally.

Only post things you have the right to post. Do not copy someone else's recipe writing, photos, or video and pass it off as yours. If you believe something on Cooklook infringes your copyright, email jpdillon20@gmail.com with a link and a description and we will take it down.

What you may not post

There is no tolerance for objectionable content. That means:

• Harassment, threats, bullying, or targeting a specific person
• Hate speech or slurs aimed at anyone's race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender, or sexual orientation
• Sexual content, nudity, or anything sexualizing a minor
• Graphic violence or gore
• Content promoting self-harm, eating disorders, or dangerous restriction
• Recipes that are unsafe as written, or that treat a serious allergy as optional
• Illegal drugs, weapons, or anything else illegal where you are
• Spam, scams, impersonation, or bulk promotional posting
• Knowingly mislabeling allergens or diet claims on a recipe

Allergen and diet labels are a safety feature. Deliberately getting them wrong is grounds for removal on the first offence.

Reporting and blocking

Every recipe, video, and comment can be reported, and every account can be blocked, from the item itself.

We review every report within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these rules. Accounts that post objectionable content are removed, and we do not give repeat offenders a third chance.

Blocking someone hides their recipes, videos, and comments from you and yours from them. You can see everyone you have blocked, and unblock them, under settings, then blocked accounts.

Cooking is your responsibility

Cooklook is a place people share recipes. It is not a food safety authority, a nutritionist, or a doctor.

Recipes are written by other people using the app. We do not test them, verify them, or check their claims. Diet labels like gluten free and dairy free are applied by whoever wrote the recipe, and packaged ingredients vary by brand.

If you have a food allergy, read the full ingredient list yourself and check the packaging. The app's filters are a convenience and they are not a substitute for reading labels. Do not rely on Cooklook for a decision that could hurt you.

Cook food to safe temperatures. Use equipment the way its manufacturer says to. Use your judgment.

Beta software

During the TestFlight beta, Cooklook is unfinished. Things will break, features will change, and data may be lost or reset. Do not use it as the only place a recipe you care about exists.

Ending it

You can stop using Cooklook and delete your account whenever you like.

We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, and for serious breaches we will do it without warning.

The legal bits

Cooklook is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us, which during the beta is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

These terms are governed by the laws of [your state or country].

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
